The People Behind La Casa del Español

A small, accountable team of native Spanish educators. You always know who is teaching your child, who to call, and who answers when something matters.

Leadership

Who runs the academy

Two co-founders who built this from the first class, and the people who keep it running between the classroom and your family.

Angelo Bejarano

Co-Founder

Angelo co-founded La Casa del Español with Karla Quiroga and set the standard the academy is still held to: a family looking for Spanish deserves a teacher who lives the language, and a student deserves to walk out able to say something they could not say before. He has defended that standard at every stage of growth, from the first handful of students to the families the academy serves today across Washington DC and Northern Virginia. Growing was never the hard part. Growing without diluting what happens inside the classroom was, and that is the line he holds.

Karla Quiroga🇧🇴

Co-Founder & CEO · Lead Instructor

Karla leads La Casa del Español, and she still teaches every week. That is not nostalgia. She has taught every level the academy offers, from two-year-olds in Mini Toledo to adults sitting the DELE exam, so no decision about curriculum, hiring or class size is ever made far from the classroom. She chooses the teachers, trains them and defines what a good class looks like here. Her bet is that families stay where their child is known by name, and she runs the academy accordingly.

Carlos Alejandro Granado — Head of Technology & Digital Marketing

Carlos Alejandro Granado

Head of Technology & Digital Marketing

Carlos Alejandro leads software development and digital marketing at La Casa del Español. He designs and runs the platforms the academy operates on: the systems that families, instructors and administration use every day. His work lets a small school operate with the transparency and accountability expected of a much larger institution. He works alongside the academic team so instructors can concentrate on teaching instead of paperwork, and he directs how the academy presents itself and grows across the DMV.

Viviana Azero

Head of Communications

Viviana is the voice families hear first. She answers the questions parents actually have: how the schedule works, what happens on a day off, whether a payment went through, how a child is settling in. She makes sure nothing falls between the academy and the family. Every message that reaches us gets an answer from a person, usually the same day, and that person is Viviana.

How We Work

What holds it together

Native speakers, professionally certified

Every instructor is a native Spanish speaker with teaching credentials. Students hear authentic accents, expressions and cultural nuance from the first class, the way the language is spoken at home.

Small groups, tracked on the CEFR

Group classes cap at 5–10 students, and every level maps to the international MCER/CEFR framework from A1 to C2, so progress is measurable and recognized by universities and employers.

Our own platform for families

Parents get a private portal: the work their child did that day with photos, attendance, progress and direct messaging with the team. We built it ourselves because no off-the-shelf tool does it.

In schools, in Annandale, and online

We run afterschool Spanish inside Washington DC elementary schools, teach adults and kids at our Annandale location, and keep every level available online for families who need the flexibility.
